How ‘Dark Sky’ works

In addition to my favorite weather site, Weather.gov, I’ve recently been relying on Dark Sky, a $4 iOS app, to help figure out if it’s going to rain or not. It has been disturbingly accurate and is a great-looking app. But it is technically impressive, too. This November, 2011 blog post — written way before I’d ever heard of it — explains some of the clever engineering behind the scenes. Worth a read. (Via Oz Lubling.)
