Amazon reportedly developing a retail store in Seattle
If this report, by Michael Kozlowski for Good E-Reader, is true, it actually makes some sense.
Never mind the age-old Amazon sales tax issue: I’ve been paying tax on Amazon orders in New York for years, and my willingness to buy more stuff from Amazon has only gone up. It seems inevitable that the e-commerce tax holiday will end eventually, anyway.
If Amazon can run a chain of boutique stores profitably — selling and servicing Kindles, exclusive books, perhaps some other gadgets and household goods, maybe even with a café element to them — it could be a winner. I wonder how long Starbucks is tied up with Barnes & Noble…
