The future of television
My latest special report for Business Insider is up, this one focusing on the future of television.
My favorite part is this video interview that BI’s Glynnis MacNicol did with Glenn Beck. (I helped produce.) Beck is at the forefront of the TV business, having traded in his Fox News show earlier this year for his own web-streaming network. Beck bills subscribers directly and owns his platform, something that traditional TV hosts can’t claim. Whether you agree with Beck’s views or not — and whether this whole thing works or not — it would be idiotic to dismiss what he’s doing. It’s a very neat, ambitious experiment.
Also, check out this chart. It’s alarming how much television we still watch.
