The only thing that matters about Twitter’s new ad product is that it exists
Twitter has been planning in-stream ads for how long? — more than a year? — and they’re finally here. And that’s what counts. As the old Apple adage goes, real artists ship.
Twitter, under the leadership of CEO Dick Costolo and Chairman Jack Dorsey, is finally shipping products, for what seems like the first time in forever.
Ads and photo hosting are rolling out now — slowly, not rushed. Apple’s huge iOS-Twitter integration is launching this fall. More, I hope, is on the way. Not enough to make Twitter any more complicated or feature-bloated, but enough to make it easier and more useful.
As an avid Twitter user, and someone whose business heavily relies on Twitter as a distribution tool, I am excited for whatever is next.
