A great analogy for Google+ vs. Facebook
Longtime digital media exec Jason Hirschhorn, via Twitter:
Using Facebook is like putting together something and not needing instructions. Google+, not so much.
Exactly. It’s been, what, a week? And I still don’t really understand what I’m supposed to do with Google+. With Friendster, Facebook, MySpace, and even Twitter, it was obvious to me from the beginning. I really don’t get Google+ yet.
Update: Hunch founder Chris Dixon replies: “I dunno. If you look back at history of technology, many of the best weren’t immediately self-explanatory.”
That’s a good point. And I reserve the right to change my mind! And, it seems that Google is in this one for the long haul, unlike Wave and some other products.
So maybe it’ll grow on me. Or maybe they’ll tweak it. But for now, I’m still not sure what to do with it.
